We are thrilled and honored to be selected into the Berkeley Blockchain Xcelerator program, out of over 140 applications for the Spring 2020 cohort. We are joint by 16 other teams representing a diverse industry landscape including gaming, finance, IoT, sports, energy, and healthcare.
Since launching its Mandala Test Network in mid-Feb 2020, Acala has more than 100 nodes running, and 160+ users transacting on the network. We and our community are eagerly anticipating the launch of our canary (experimental with real token value) network Karura connecting to the Kusama network, and of course, the Acala mainnet connecting to the Polkadot network soon after. We look forward to learning more from the Xcelerator program, collaborating with other teams, mentors, and partners to build a decentralized future together
The Berkeley Blockchain Xcelerator is a joint venture by the Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology, Berkeley Haas School of Business, and the Blockchain at Berkeley student group, with the purpose of propelling blockchain entrepreneurs and scholars into the ecosystem. “UC Berkeley, Silicon Valley, and the Bay Area have become the worldwide hub for the development of blockchain technology.” said Professor Ikhlaq Sidhu, founder, and director of the Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology. The Xcelerator program taps into the vast resources of UC Berkeley, Silicon Valley, and industry experts to create high-value blockchain startups.
Acala is set up as a decentralized finance consortium with a vision to build decentralized finance infrastructure, provide stability and liquidity for the Polkadot ecosystem. The Acala Network contains a decentralized stablecoin and a trustless staking liquidity protocol powering cross-blockchain open finance applications.
